An 84-hectare neighbourhood is currently under development in Riva, a neighbourhood in the Beykoz district of Istanbul situated along the Black Sea coast. Developed by an international design team that includes Snøhetta, BIG, MVRDV, and several Turkish architecture practices, the project will integrate housing, cultural facilities, and public amenities. Snøhetta’s contribution, the Greenhouse district, includes approximately 400 residences and The Ring, a circular building that spans the river gorge. The neighbourhood will be organized into smaller residential clusters connected by green space and public amenities. In the first phase, a biodiverse landscape of 100,000 m²and almost 1,000 homes for about 3,000 residents are planned, alongside a new school and several cultural, retail, hospitality, and wellness programs. The project will use locally sourced CLT. Currently under construction, this first phase is expected to be completed and occupied in 2027.

Designed by Foster + Partners, Gstaad House is a multi-storey timber structure planned for a valley site in Gstaad, Switzerland. Wood defines both its construction and architectural character, with a gently sloping façade of locally sourced larch that follows the contours of the Alpine landscape, filters daylight into the upper floors and frames panoramic valley views. An integrated ramp wraps around the building, carrying pedestrians and vehicles continuously from ground level to the penthouse. Inside, Gstaad’s first purpose-built exhibition and storage facility for fine art, cars, fashion and antiques will combine a public exhibition and auction hall, climate-controlled private galleries and 3,000 m² (32,300 ft²of subterranean storage. A private members’ club crowns the timber building, offering lounges, dining space and a wraparound roof terrace overlooking the valley. Planning permission has been granted for the project.

Japanese architecture firm VUILD has designed a 5,000-seat timber stadium for Fukushima United FC. The structural components will be manufactured from locally sourced timber and are designed for disassembly and reuse. The 16 m tall, two storey stadium is organized into four volumes: each volume is less than 3,000 m²The spaces between the volumes form entrances. Ground-level facilities include locker rooms, waiting rooms, restrooms and concessions, while the second floor of the main stand accommodates VIP seating and broadcasting areas. Structurally, the timber roof design combines hyperbolic paraboloid shells composed of bundled small cross-section members to enable the long spans and roof cantilevers. Above the shells, timber components suspended in a catenary form will complete the roof structure. 

Under construction in Čepin, Croatia, EVE Music Hall is a 10,000-m² cultural venue designed by BIG and scheduled to open in March 2027. Accommodating approximately 4,000 guests indoors and up to 25,000 outdoors, the building brings together two performance halls around a shared central foyer. Sheets of Slavonian limestone descend from the scale of the building to form benches at ground level, while mass timber hulls support the stone veil and shape a warm, tent-like roof over the foyer. Mirror-clad walls extend the visual rhythm of the timber structure, creating the impression that it continues into the distance. Inspired by the surrounding agricultural fields, the draped timber-and-stone façades soften the transition between the halls and the horizontal landscape, with openings that frame views and welcome visitors from every direction. An accessible rooftop terrace provides additional gathering space overlooking the fields and outdoor event grounds. 

Peel Regional Police Operational Support Facility in Brampton, designed by DIALOG, brings mass timber to the scale and operational complexity of major public-safety infrastructure. Currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2028, the building will consolidate communications, IT and an advanced data centre, community safety and well-being, road safety, and records services within a workplace designed to operate around the clock. Its mass-timber construction is paired with a high-performance envelope clad in curved terracotta, photovoltaic panels, heat pumps, and robust backup mechanical and electrical systems, supporting Peel Region’s net-zero carbon goals while maintaining the resilience required of an essential facility. Universal design and accessibility are integrated throughout, while interiors inspired by birch trees use natural materials, warm textures, indoor gardens, and abundant daylight to create a calming and restorative environment for officers and staff.

Construction is underway on a permanent engineered mass timber bridge across the Berens River in Northwestern Ontario, part of an all-season road connection to Pikangikum First Nation. Developed through a partnership among the Pikangikum First Nation, Whitefeather Forest Community Resource Management Authority, and the governments of Ontario and Canada, the bridge will provide year-round access to Pikangikum, eliminating the lengthy ice crossing currently required to reach the community and the broader winter road network. It will also improve winter road connections for six additional remote First Nations north of Red Lake, strengthening access to essential goods and services for seven communities while enhancing safety and supporting jobs and economic development. The bridge is expected to be completed in 2028.
