Carbon Reduction for Municipalities

WoodWorks BC is collaborating with Carbon Wise Consulting to develop a roadmap and supporting education for reducing embodied carbon in buildings.

Moisture Management Guide

WoodWorks BC is participating on the review panel for the Canadian Wood Council’s upcoming Moisture Management Guide. The panel is tasked with ensuring the guide is a valuable and practical resource for practitioners, supporting the development of effective moisture management plans for building projects.

Procurement Pathways for Public Projects

To help public-sector navigate procurement options for mass timber projects, several educational resource formats are under consideration, including a ‘best practices’ solution paper and a potential event. The goal is to provide practical guidance for selecting the most appropriate approach based on project-specific needs and policy objectives.

Seismic Design Support

WoodWorks BC will develop an example calculation to help structural engineers meet the new seismic provisions in BCBC 2024. The resource will walk through strategies and workflows for a typical six-storey light wood frame (LWF) residential building in Victoria—where seismic demands have increased most significantly.
