What's ahead for WoodWorks BC

While a date is not yet confirmed, the event is tentatively planned for early 2026 in Greater Vancouver. Stay tuned for updates.

Mass Timber Project Procurement for the Public Sector

This in-person event is planned to answer the questions of public bodies developing projects with Mass Timber but unclear how to use the various procurement strategies and unsure which strategy will work best for their situation.  No date is currently set for this event but proposed for early 2026 in Greater Vancouver.

An in-person event is in development to support public-sector organizations exploring mass timber construction. Tailored for project owners and procurement professionals, this session will address common questions around procurement strategies — from selecting the right approach to understanding how each strategy aligns with project goals, timelines, and unique project considerations.

A launch event hosted in collaboration with ULI is planned for the fall, providing an opportunity to dive deeper into the findings and connect with industry leaders. Stay tuned for release and registration details.

Tallwood Business Cases

Two new business cases featuring recently completed mass timber buildings in B.C. are set to launch this September. These in-depth reports will unpack the cost drivers and construction strategies behind efficient, real-world mass timber projects — offering valuable insight for developers, designers, and builders alike.

Seismic Design Example Calculation

Work is underway on an example calculation designed to support structural engineers with design compliance with new seismic provisions within BCBC 2024.  It will provide practical strategies and a clear workflow for a typical 6-storey LWF residential building in Victoria, BC, where seismic forces have increased most significantly under the updated code. This project is scheduled to be completed by September 2025.

Watch for more information about the seismic design example calculation and a related webinar toward the end of summer, ahead of their release in the fall.
