Financial Overview

CWC’s strength lies in the quality and credibility of its evidence-based work, the clarity of its communications, and the strategic alignment that connects it all. Our value to members and partners is grounded in the trust placed in our technical resources and the consistency of our delivery. In 2024, we enhanced our capacity for data-informed decision-making, strengthened stakeholder engagement, and sharpened the tools we use to evaluate and communicate impact—reinforcing our position as a respected and effective industry leader.

Strong Financial and Operational Performance

2024 marked a year of strong financial and operational performance for the CWC team.

Key highlights include the return of APA as a full member, the successful negotiation of three funding increase amendments for publicly funded programs, the launch of a membership and strategic plan review, and the initiation of a digital transformation journey.

APA’s return contributed positively to CWC’s financial position, helping to achieve a strong year-end result. A notable key performance indicator for the year was a return of $5.83 in additional revenue secured for every $1 of member contribution—demonstrating strong leverage of member investments. In line with our commitment to delivering value to members, the 2025 budget was approved with an 8% reduction in membership dues for lumber members, totaling $155,409 in savings. Additionally, the 2025 MSA was renegotiated, with CWC proposing a 5.3% decrease—equivalent to $117,179.

CWC continued its strong collaboration with public funders and effectively delivered programs under the respective funding agreements. A more collaborative approach to budget oversight was adopted, emphasizing transparency, shared insights, and strategic resource alignment to support pan-Canadian goals and WoodWorks priorities.

Through these efforts, CWC has reinforced its commitment to operational excellence, fiscal responsibility, and strategic impact.
